Two ladies, a gentleman & a motorcycle
by Richovery
Bought at an Antiques Fair in Kinver this photograph is only 2″ square and is printed on a fragile photo paper, I thought I better scan it before it was lost or damaged.
The composition of the photograph is beautiful.
The registration on the motorcycle is either BDI 437 or BD1437, I did look on the internet but couldn’t find any information on this reg.
No information on the back of this one but I think it was 50p well spent!
You’re right, it is a beautiful composition. And I know what you mean about wanting to get the image scanned before anything further happens to it. I try to be careful with mine, but you never know. Once I own an image, I almost feel a responsibility to the people pictured in it.
Beautiful photograph.Hope the lady in the “deck chair” isn,t tempted
to have a ride on the bike, which they are obviously very proud of.
The tires are so small ! I think my mountain bike has tires that big and it’s only a bike !
Thanks for the comments, Matt how do you store your images? I really need to get mine organised and protected. I feel the same sense of responsibility to the image you describe.
Richard, I just keep them in individual plastic sheet protectors that I buy cheaply in bulk. My understanding is that it’s best to keep them separate in some way for two reasons, first so that there is minimal wear from them rubbing against each other, and second so that anything like mold won’t spread as easily. They are mostly tossed in boxes, except the ones which I’ve posted in my blog, which are kept chronologically in binders. There is basically no organization, beyond making a note of which ones were purchased together (in case I suspect they might be related). I am NOT any kind of an expert on photo preservation, so be sure to get a second opinion before making any decisions about how to store your own collection.
Thanks Matt, I must buy some covers for mine as most of them are bundled together.
Well, double-check on that. I just use those because I’m used to them. There might be other alternatives that would suit you better. And it might be that my method is completely ill-advised, for all I know.
Judith, she looks a bit frail to be getting on the bike doesn’t she!
Jocelyne, I hadn’t noticed how skinny the tyres were until you mentioned it, I don’t think I would feel safe on those.
I wouldn’t too !
