I bought this postcard online, no information on the reverse but we have Mrs Eddershaw’s name and house number within the photograph. I liked the composition, the two couples & the chap at the top of the steps. The ladies and gentlemen also have matching shoes.
Thanks Simon, it’s one of my favourites. I’m not sure whether it’s from the UK or the US. The reverse is unmarked other than ‘post card, communication address only’ printed on it.
Really intriguing Richard. They look almost theatrical… was Mrs Eddershaw a dancing teacher I wonder? The guy in the left looks like quite a cheeky chappy, quite dapper and with a cigarette in hand and I notice both men are wearing rings, the one on the right a signet ring. They are not worn much these days. My Granny and her sisters and mother all wore them. Had them as 21st birthday presents.
Glad you liked it Sheila. It could well be a dance school and I hadn’t noticed the signet rings until you spotted them. Your right about the chap with the cigarette, he does look like a character!
What a cosy little group of people! The women seem to be wearing dancing shoes,so perhaps they are outside a dancing school. The man sitting above them is also intriguing as he seems to be observing the group.
These old photographs are always a wonderful window of days gone past…
interesting and mysterious in equal measure!! Great find Richard.👌
Belter of a portrait, and you really do wonder who the mysterious figure is tucked away by the door. Is it from the UK?

Thanks Mum, glad you liked it. It could be a dancing school and it would explain why the men also have the same style of shoes as each other.
