About
Photographs lost by their original owners.
I buy them at flea markets, car boots sales and antique fairs, select the ones I like, scan and share them with you.
I’m Richard Overy, I collect postcards, old photos and many other things.
“A photograph never grows old. You and I change, people change all through the months and years but a photograph always remains the same.”

what a great idea, Richard. I like these old postcards, hope to read many more of them 🙂
thanks for stopping by my blog
Thanks Angela, the cakes on your blog look delicious!
ps sorry about the late reply!
Abot to start a good look at the site. I collect lots of stuff too. I think it is strange to call the bits and bobs of past generations “ephemera”. It is we who are the ephemera! The artifacts of our lives live on way longer than we do.
I agree and find it hard to believe that these images of yesterdays are only seen as valuable by a few people.
Glad in some ways otherwise I could afford them!
Likewise, little gems waiting for us to find them!
Oh My Oh my Oh my !! You cannot begin to know how I love your blog ! I adore everything vintage and especially old photos like this. I like to imagine what their lives were made of, how they lived. There’s nothing I like more than going to a museum and see old family photos and reading their stories. I’m so glad you liked my post “Vintage mood”, that way I could discover your fantastic blog !
Thank you so much for your kind comments Jocelyn, I’m really pleased that you like my blog. Your blog is wonderful and the Vintage Mood images work so well together.
My grandfather was the brother of Charles Dent re:

Thank you for getting in touch Geoff, it’s great to hear from those who knew the people in the photographs.
Can you tell me anymore about your Uncle, your Father or the company?
Thanks Richard
Sorry Geoff I meant your Grandfather not Father !
Regards
Richard
I love your collection of postcards and putting them on here is a great idea.
My great-grandparents had a farm in Leighton, and my g.grandmother must have been a bit of a horder as I have a box full of postcards of hers. From as early as 1905.
I used to always look on eBay for old shropshire postcards and once did find one, of my ancestors. It’s so nice to read peoples past and try and match the cards to the people.
Great to read this, I will definitely be checking this, incase you find one from my ancestors 🙂
Thank you for your kind comment Katie, I will keep my eyes peeled for any postcards from the Leighton area and hope your ancestors are shown.
Richard
